This a new product from Castle Automotive Enterprises in Victoria , web address below . Its a Lucas C39 - 40 generator converted to an Alternator . Output is 60 amps at 14.2 volts continuous , with a peak of 80 amps , sure beats the old Generators 22 amps output , yay no more flat batterys . Would be ideal for early minis wanting to keep the original look ....cheers

For the specialised item it is, and the small numbers they will sell in I think thats about right.

Motor rewinding is an artform, specialised motor winding is even more of an artform.

Sorry to revive this thread.

But I was at my Auto-electrician the other day and he is making 'Alter-Gens' which is basically the same item as CAE mob in Victoria make.

I dont have many specs, I just grabbed a leaflet he has but it says its rated at 45 amps and is fairly easy to install using two small connections made at the original regulator.

Now to the nitty gritty. I asked him what he was roughly chasing for units and said he's looking at around the $400 mark plus labour if you want it installed etc. Thats half the price the CAE guys are asking.

He is located in Rooty Hill in Sydney's West and does offer a mobile service and will come to you. He is also willing to post units with some instructions interstate.

His number is 9832 1630 if you want more details.
