for the life of me i cant find any timing marks on my engine.
it is a 998 A+ has the fixed marker on the crank pulley but cant see any marks on the pulley so i took the clutch cover off the other day thinking there might be markings on the flywheel but again i couldnt see anything.
anyone know if i should be looking somewhere else? or if i take it to get tuned will they still be able to set the timing properly without any timing marks?

When new, an A+ would have had marks on the pulley, and maybe the flywheel (not sure).

To add a TDC mark to the crank pulley:
1. remove spark plugs
2. find an old pushrod, borrow a dial gauge and magnetic base.
3. turn motor until as near possible to TDC in #1 cylinder (you can see the piston)
4. clamp the magnetic base to top of head near the thermostat, so it doesn't rock about.
5. sit pushrod in the plughole and hold as vertical as possible. position dial gauge stem in the top of the pushrod. Clamp the mag base.
6. rotate motor until reading is max on dial gauge, this is TDC.
7. cut a groove in the pulley at TDC mark on cover (the rearmost mark).
