He has a single 1 1/4, and it runs out of puff
An upgrade to a 1 1/2 will help, if you want to do up the engine and khana, single 1 3/4. If you want to do up the eng and do track 2 X 1 1/2.
Thats what i think.

I have a preferance for singles cos whatever setup you run no. 1 and 4 will run richer and a single is just easier to tune than twins - imagine having a partner who is a twin, they could mess with your head

for a stock 1098 1 1/2 (dont use the standard air filter set up) and a set of LCB extractors will do the job very well. If it was a hottie 1098 then go with the twins.

I like twin HS2s on a modded 1098. A single HS6 or HIF44 also works well, but use a decent manifold- not just a hacked about HS4 one.

If it's currently running a single HS2, and you're not going to do anything more to the engine, I'd be using a single HS4.

I would go with a single HS4 as well. They just work better.

But when I was young I had multiple SUs on everything, at one stage I had three registered cars with a total of 7 SUs.

I have found single 1 1/2" works very well on most stock and mildly modded 998 and 1098 engines. And if you ask GR he will say that a single carb will work better on a 1275 with one of his U bute inlet manifolds.

Single HS4 would be the go.
Had one on my 1098cc with a set of LCB's and it was great, the single accentuates the low and mid-range which is the 1098's strong point.
You also get rewarded with good fuel economy (i got about 6.5L/100k)

I disagree with this. I had a single HS4 on my 1152 and it got asthmatic from about 4000rpm and up. It now has twin HS2s and has lots more top end with no loss of low and mid-range torque.

I get between 6.5 and 7.0L/100km economy, too.

Coopers all had twins for that reason. They look better too. 8)
If you want a single to beat twin HS2s, it better be an HS6 or HIF44. Single HS4 isn't in the hunt.
