Post subject:  overheating problems...

okay i got problems now. My mini likes to overheat... first it was every now and then now its happening all the time? So i have thought about it and talked to some people and they told me it could be the waterpump but its not makin funny noises... so the other thing it could be is the thermostat... is this right? anyone help me out? cuz its goin all the way up to 110 degrees now.. use to only go up to 70degrees?

Do the old trick.......... get a radiator thermometer (if you know a mechanic he should have one), and, when the mini reaches operating temp, ease off the radiator cap (whilst protecting yourself with a big towel) ,let the pressure stabilize and pop the thermometer in and see what temp comes up.......

I thought i had massive temp probs with Slidey and when the temp was checked i found out that my gauge was out about 30 degrees :oops:

Could be the temp thermostat...(my Guess)
Temp Sender or a blockage in the rad...Don't talk to me about Rad's today :!:
What was the last time you cleaned out the rad/system.....what colour is the water...have you instaled a heater :shock: couldalso be your Smiths guage or the resistor thing...Sorry I can't think of the name at the moment behind the dash

yes i would put a thermometre in the rad but u can start with the cap off so u don't risk getting burnt

Check your timing and mixture first.

If the mixture is lean it will overheat same goes if your timing is out.

Dad told me that one.

Well don't you hate that...

I had that call this aftrenoon... :roll: Morris is Overheating and a smell of burnt oil with the Oil pressure going between 25 and 75...

Changed Oil Filter / Oil and tappet Gasket...
Why you ask did I not touch the Themo...Changed it two week's again with a good flushing of the system
Sue needs it for daily drive lets hope thats all it is

Hasent been touched and as it was at the Dyno...We have just changed to Needle to BCA to BDP...and it was running all okay on the weekend
