Shannons is will insure minis for Agreed Value. That's what I have, you don't want any insurer who is going to use that Redbook rubbish. Your premiums will be based upon how much you want to insure it for though, so if you think it will cost $25,000 to replace you will pay on that basis. Always better to be over rather than under insured as they will prorata the payout if (deliberately) underinsured. |

ok. I did ring up & say look i want to insure it for $25.000 she kept saying well the market value on unique cars for a Morris mini is 10 grand & for that model is caped at $15,00 im like huh. i said but mine is a morris mini traveler, so I'm a bit confused she was a young girl that did not have any idea about the mini. that was shannons. i can call back no worry's anyways just arm my self with the right knowledge. |

as above what happened to me at shannons was that my call got dumped in the rejected quotes pile some other guy at shannons goes through these to see what's actually viable, called me back and outlined a deal for me, was pretty good. hell of a way to do business though |

Last time I rang Shannons to add a few modifications to my policy, the bloke I spoke to seemed to know heaps about Minis. He asked me about a whole list of mods which I had forgotten to mention, things like quickshift, steering wheel, tacho etc. It turned out that he had a restored Cooper that he ran around Bathurst at the Mini 40th (or something like that). It was great to deal with someone who knew what he was talking about. Better than NRMA. When I tried to explain that it had a Weber carburetter the girl asked if that was part of the engine. Of course they didn't know about Austin Minis. It's just not their market. |

Or defect to GIO like some here (not me) have done. ![]() Yeah try Shannons again for sure. 25k for a restored Traveller shouldn't be a problem. As the Doc said you just have to talk to the right person. |

Yep, when I did mine. I was asking for a bit more than what they had listed for an 850 but the girl who did my original quote talked to someone who okayed the amount I wanted. She said that if I wanted any more that I'd need to take it out to Fyshwick for valuation. |

I've got a couple of cars insured with Shannons under agreed value. Every year I get the invoice in they seem to have reduced the value by $1,000 on each vehicle, but the premiums don't seem to go down. Is this normal? |

Just give them a call and re-agree the value I guess. Most classic cars should not devalue. |

I'm going with LSV, good prices and the guy I spoke to knew what he was talking about, I managed to get a Leyland Mini S insured for $10 000, premium is $450 with 0 no claims bonus. |

I was with Shannons for over 10 years and had no complaints until I decided to increase the value of My S. I also got the run around which was very frustrating. I called Dawes insurance and with no questions I increased the value an additional 10K and the premium was actually $40 cheaper, all over the phone...too easy |

Was with Shannons, they have rules as to how much the agreed value can be. Try to do an online quote! Even when the Mini K was insured with them (a deal done over the phone person to person), they required photos as proof for $8K. Also that was for limited use. (2-3 days per week only) Swapped over to G.I.O veteran and vintage policy, same price as Shannons policy but now agreed value is $15K. They also required photos of car,(rules have just changed) but this is so they can put in the file. All sent and approved in one day. G.I.O veteran and vintage also include you salvage rights. I am a happy camper. Already got a quote for the Mk 2 Cooper S (cheap) ![]() |
