Got the new manifold gasket in and the 998 i put in the 850 runs like a dream now. :D The old one managed to get a nice chunk taken out of it on the 3/4 inlet  when i put in. must have been sucking air big time. Just need to tune the timing and mixture, fix a minor water leak at the temp sensor, and the exhaust manifold/pipe joint leak and i'm done. Still drove it over to Top Ryde for the MCC bowling night. Goes much better than the shagged out old 848cc engine. Handles much better now i've wound the hilos down from where the previous owner had them (max ride height :? ) looks much better too.

i'll give it a wash and polish, fit the new brake drums and shoes, and fix the heater, and then just keep driving it.

Its always nice when you have rebuilt an engine and installed it back in. You can then engoy the plesures of you'r Labour

will rebuild 850 motor to put it back to original, but in the meantime i needed to get mobility. What's the point of having if you don't drive?

yeah its the green 850 with beige roof. very original yes, so the rings were stuffed, probably because it was running over rich and washing the oil off the bores. Fine putting around city, but when you go up the big hills like to wollongong or picton it just died.

Cv Joints had come loose, oops. All tight now. Split pins in there too! Also adjusted the drums on the back, so she is nearly ready to go.

The Van has everything undone on the top, just need to get under it and undo 16 bolts and she will be ready to come out. Could probably have it done ready for lift out tomorrow night if i was keen.

Good to here you got it back on the road mick. I would have come round and helped you out but i hadn't had a chance up until sunday. Let me know if you need a hand with the 850, i am good at getting them apart! Sorry i didn't get much of a chance to say gday at the meeting or the bowls! Busy busy with a little squirmer!

Cheers
