Post subject:  Engine bulk heads
Hi

Trying to fit my twin 1.5inch carbs and i have had to tilt the engine forward to allow the float bowls to clear the bulk head. 1979 Mini LE (Nz car)

Are all bulk heads the same eg Clubman etc,

The manifold is a copy of the maniflow one. I have bad feeling the guy got the carb angle wrong or the manifold is too long..

Do you have the engine staiblisers on? I've found with out them the engine will lean back a bit.

I'd cut the manifold flanges off and shorten the tubes, there's too much straight pipe there before it bends up.
Pretty, though... 8)

The problem is they may fowl my headers,

The fuse box in my garage is on the blink, so cant go and check (where's a torch)

Make a new balance pipe then, curved up like the Maniflow one is.

Filters fit fine, its the float bowls that are just hitting the bulk head

Can you have the flanges machined to cause the carbs to point up a smidge more?
