So, I took the SPi to the local dyno day to see what power it's putting out. I got a good laugh. 37hp @ the wheels 1.3SPi with K&N Filter mod and a 'sports cam'. My 'not so stock' 1098 put out over 45, so this is a little disappointing. Air / Fuel ratio sat at a fairly constant 14......way too lean apparently. What might be playing up to cause such an abnormally lean mixture ? The car feels fine to drive, I have absolutely no problems with it on the road. The power it has when driving feels great, so it makes me wonder how it would go with the right air/fuel ratio. |

what cam are you using? the only 'sports' cam the SPi Ecu can cope with is the kent 'efi' cam. Anything else requires an aftermarket ecu. |

Whatever cam it was that Brickworx put in. Words used were 'Sports cam', other than that I don't have anymore info on it. |

Do you have an air temperature and speed sensor connected to the aftermarket filter? If not, the engine may be defaulting them to a value (eg set by a hot English or Japanese day of 10 degrees C) and putting in the extra fuel. Put the stock airbaox and filter in, and put the car on the dyno again after 100 kms use, and see what it's like then. |

Yeah, all sensors are hooked up and plugged in correctly. |

if the ecu was putting extra fuel in it would be running rich, not lean. Good point though, are all the leads plugged in? If brickworx put the cam in it will be the kent, steve was the one who told me that it was the only cam that will work |

Ah, goodstuff. It has me stumped, the only thing I can think it would be is the oxygen sensor. But, I have no way of testing this. Plugs are new(ish) and leads are fairly new. |

do you have access to a co2 sensor? if so set it up and detach your various sensors on at a time, if any make no difference you have a suspect |

Have you got any vacuum leaks from three plastic hoses that is common on a SPI as that will make it run lean. Also what does your temp gauge sit on? Cheers Pete |

I replaced those two small hoses, as the elbows split. It now has generic vacuum hose. Would the diameter of that hose have any effect ? Temp gauge sits just below that white line in between H and C. |

O2 sensors have a life of under 100,000km, but no-one ever changes them.... so many cars on the road could be running better than they are they're pretty cheap, go buy a new one (bosch) |

nah, no idea - if I got my sh!t together and went and collected the front cut I need to pull apart for a guy I'd be able to tell you, but crawl under your mini and take it out, the part number will be stamped on it. They're a common item, just depends on the number of wires (2, 3 or 4) |
