car seems to be fine driving at 80 and under. but as soon as i get any faster the temp goes up to about 3/4. also if the weather is a bit warmer car dose the same thing? is my water pump stuffed? recently had head re done radiator checked. new thermostat, new temp sender. and car is not losing water. |

The water pump does seem like the weakest link there, considering everything else has been done. I'd be changing it. |

ok, so is a high flow water pump any better than a normal flow water pump. or is it just one of those name things and a higher cost? |

cast iron, high flow pump is amazingly awsome! just put one in my moke, its struggling to make it to the big N (normal) in the temp gauge... |

ok nice, what about fans? which type should i have? leave the 11 blade plastic one or change to a metal comp type fan? |

had it all flushed and checked when the head was re done as was unsure of the over heating problem the first time |

Chuck the fan and get an electric one,  better flow of air when its resally needed and its a constant speed on the freeway or when idling, its gives a really good suck when its needed,  and boy are the fan belts easy to change. 
They work really good in Australian conditions, I never had any problem with mine even on hot days with the A/C running, its does the job just fine. 
Nearly the same price as a bladed fan, so take your pick.

That happened to me, timing was off and i had the same problem you have. No expert, but i think something simple to check. |

fair enough that it goes to 3/4 and ur concerned., is that the temp guage with out temp markings?.. if so has anyone checked to see what sort of temp that might read in relation to other guages with actual temppeature numbers. maybe its not overheating but just getting warmed up . just a thought. .
