I know that everyone has differing opinions, but all opinions help. Which is the better carby for a mildly hot 998 day tripper?
For some reason I want a single carby, not twin. (unless someone puts up a really strong/persuasive argument.) :D

Twins not only make your car look really cool.....they also make it go better!

You can also feel superior to others who only have one carb!

i feel tiny is the best person to answer your question on twins. as for hiff or h6 i would go h6 only because i already own one and anything i own is the best :wink:

So far the technical data for the twins is outweighing the big single!

great link ryan, but still has the problem of which is better. So far power difference between twin and single is small. I have seen Dans hs6, and I like, I have seen doogies hif44, and I like.
Lets go with economy.
Which is better? (in theory that is, cause carb and manifold setups differ, tuning differs, etc, etc.)

I have a HIF44 and had it for around 5 years and never had any problems with it. When it was first fitted it had a carby kit done. Orginal manifold was a Log and felt like a Log also. So I got another better flowing manifold from the UK.
HS6 just about everyone has one spare and so to the manifolds.

While the HIFF I would say would be better in performance the trouble getting a good HIF and manifold may take long and cost that little bit more.

Twins you would have to put two kits throu and can be a bugger to set up unless you paysomeone who knows what they are doing

I'd recomend HS6

You wnat performace go a Dellorto 40

Both Dash pot are much the same size and pretty easy to pling up. the othr thing with a HIF44 is the fuel bowl is in the bottom of the carb and not attached to the side like a HS6.

Why not consider a Delly 40..no dont bling it :lol: :?

maybe you should concentrate on the body your a long way of needing a carby? and if you dont rush into things you may find a bargain.

Nah Dan, just trying to do the research now, rather than do it at the last minute. Its easier to decide later on if I get some technical, personal opinions, and rough prices now.
I've got SO MANY questions about different things that I have to ask as the project continues.
