Does anyone know where I can get a metric (i.e kms not mph) speedo face to suit a 0-90 mph morris mini speedo. My speedo works fine but would like to update it preferably to a 0-200 km/h face and as the mechanism works fine why replace it. |

I put in a Moke speedo in kph, much easier to drive with. |

I did that too. There are two 140KMH Moke speedos, one is marked 800 turns/km, the other 860 turns/km. The 860 one is spot on (over 5KM road markers) in a Mini with 10" wheels and a Mini-K diff (3.647), but not too far out if you have a Deluxe or 850 (3.765) diff. The 800 one is pretty close with a 3.44 diff and 10" wheels.

You just can't change the face to 200 kph and keep the old mechanism. With 12 faulkens, 3.44 diff the cable turns over a marked kilometer were 798. Dam close enough to the 800 cable turn 140 kph moke speedo I have. Do you go over 140 k's.

Of course you can change the face. The speedo needle has no idea about speed and Tickle Me units would be great. However the odometer is not quite so forgiving. You can recalibrate the speedo needle to read more accurately for your vehicle, but the the odometer is fixed by the gearing. Of course if you whack a Tickle Me face on the mph speedo the odometer is still in miles. How many Tickle Me units between oil changes. Nigel |

you can buy brand new ones with the normal miles around the outside but also with kms around the inside. they look good too:) |

So for my Deluxe if I fit an 800 speedo: 3.765 divide by 3.44 = 1.09 So at 109 kph on the speedo I would be travelling at 100kph? |

That's about right. Assuming the speedo is accurate re speed (most overread a bit). I have a 130KMH/200KMH UK speedo in mine, they are made for a 3.44 diff. With my 3.647 diff the speedo is reading 110KMH at 100 (checked using tacho) but these calcs show it should only be reading 106. As I say, they do overread. |
