Post subject:  Primary Gear Bronze washer

i have just put a new primary gear bronze washer on my 1275, but it was a rather tight fit, and now that its on it wont spin around. Does this matter?
i tried to take it off but i dont think it gonna come off to easy.
i also put the washers inner 45 degree angled side facing towards the block, is this correct?
i have a end float of .003 which is fine the book says between .003 - .006 but i hear you can run up to .010

The bronze washer doesn't have to spin, it probably will though when it's had a few heat cycles. Chamfer facing towards the block is correct.

.003" primary gear endfloat is good, over .006" is a worry, you do NOT want .010" on a rebuild. The clearance will increase soon enough...

this may sound stupid
but how does the primary gear work, i assume it transfers all the power from the engine through the idler gear into gearbox, but the primary gear just spins around on the crank.

The clutch (when engaged) locks it to the crank.
