Post subject:  stone guard

Just sprayed stoneguard under my new passangers wing, and was thinking if anyone sprays it in the engine bay.
It would be primed first naturally, and maybe topcoated, but was curious if anyone does it. Any advantages or disadvantages, etc?
Only want helpful input, not grumpy bashings like "why the heck would you do that for!"
Just curious is all.

Hi,

I have sprayed 2 bays in it. The first was the stuff in a can, I primed first, and then sprayed, Got a nice finish and then primed and painted some time later. It looks great - nice shine etc.

The second one, I had bought a gun setup that uses litre bottles of the stuff, this gives a larger texture, I was in a hurry and didnt leave long enough between stoneguard and paint - It looks damm nasty and im not happy.

Also the first was a roundie with less horizontal surfaces to get scratched.

So, id say, go for it, it stops the drumming sound a bit, bun not for a show car!

also, you need to wait a long time before you paint it, and the thinneres will melt the tar, so i used basicly unthinned primer on the first car.

My Grunt wont be a show car in the slightest.
I've got the gun setup, looks nice and clean after application!
Does it help much with sound deadening?
