Hi,
Has anyone seen these pedal boxes before on ebay?

Just looking for something that gives a bit more engine bay room, so master cylinders could be integrated into the pedal box.
Does anyone know how these would go through a roadworthy? It would be engineered.
If not i think ill be designing my own.
Cheers
Joe

Looks the goods, would definatly have to be engineered of sorts... And are they even the master cylinders on it? If so then to me it looks as if the brake and clutch lines would have to be run into the car? Not sure how legal that is?? If it is everything needed then it would definatly save alot of room in the engine bay!

This is the pic from the ebay add...

Does it run remote reservoirs? The ad states that the cylinders are included, but at 350 pounds plus shipping, it's a lot of money. I guess you get adjustable brake bias. To me it looks like race car only status, but a nice product all the same.

The legality of running the pipes inside the car would be ok i imagine. I know they are considered commercial vehicles but many vans, buses, trucks (toyota, mazda, ford, mitsubishi) have the mastercylinders inside the car beneath the dash.

The pipes would possibly have to run from the mastercylinder out through the firewall and then under the car, as opposed to having pipes under the carpet etc.

Always best to check with an engineer though.

The resevoirs would be easy enough to set up if you went to the trouble of fitting the pedal box.

make sure the master cylinders suit your braking system to.. otherwise they will be worse then standard...

I had a look at the rest of the products they sell, and that seemed the best value one. You can get them with adjustable brake bias and remote resovoirs. But the parts there are pretty much the basics you need. The resovoirs and stuff can be sourced over here.

The Cooper S had a thicker brake pedal than other Minis and they needed it.
These blokes drill holes in their pedals...

They would be Ok in a lightweight race car but for road use forget it.

Don't even think about it.

Ok then if you are silly enough go ahead, see if I care.

Really? That's a pretty massive brake pedal operating two master cylinders on front disks (this being the UK where 8.4" disks are much more common), not the old 7.9" single piston calipers of old. I think something else would give way before the brake pedal. I know the holes are pretty much pointless other than looks, but the metal looks pretty thick from the pic.

If you want a pedal box that is engineered for road cars then check out asp-racing.com . These are made by Rory Thompson here in adelaide. Rory is a certified engineer.
Price wise they start from just over $500 and he builds them to your requirements

I recon this pedal box will be ideal espoecially when doing a Jap engine transplant/Mod, to give you more room in the engine bay. I am sure it would not be marketed in the UK if it was not adequate. Looks good.
