Hey,

If I could get a 100% original Clubman GT, would I frowned upon for adding 13" rims, racing seats, maybe a new colour exterior if it needs a paint and various other bits n pieces?

If its never been touched original spec etc, Id be inclined to keep it original.

Another option would be to do all the stuff you want to, but keep the original bits to swap when you like.

Keep it originail, If czerila knew someone got one and started modding it he would cry, i wouldnt go that far but if its that original definetly not

Nothing worse than finding a rare model and seeing that it's been butchered. Much prefer to see them kept in the same spirit. Can put 13" wheels on any old stocker Mini.

I would say keep it original. it will be worth it down the track if you want to sell it.

If it is original keep it original I reckon or only do mods that can easily un done and keep the old gear. Like mags or a pulsar dizzy etc. There should be a fair few reasonably decent clubman's around to modify. You could get your original GT then get another clubman to modify, and then after that you'll need a roundnose and then a moke maybe and then ......

and so the list goes on :P :lol:

and then you will wonder why you have so many cars :P :oops: at least I am at the moment
(I felt guilty drilling holes in my original condition clubman 998's subframe to bolt up a sump guard) :roll:

That's the only problem with getting an original special model mini. You feel compelled to keep it original.

I have done it three times now, once with a mini matic, again with a GT and now with the deluxe.

All were so original I just couldn't bring myself to change them unless of course I was going to completely restore them as original cars.

Not my thing.

I have this dilemma. I am building a van from a brand new shell which I found in a garage. The question is the same, keep it original or add some mods? I have decided to do nothing to it which will be not reversible, so it gets discs, motor mods and a custom dash. No extra holes drilled except for the radio antenna if I can avoid it.

chop the front off and put a roundy front on it, respray it...maybe a metallic colour....ditch the seats and go for Cobra race seats, 13's for sure..... :D




























Nooooooo way!! If you want all that, don't buy a GT....buy a stokko clubby and do it to that.

if its worth it to you then it doesnt matter what anyone else thinks.. what you are proposing isnt anything that cant be put back original if a future owner wants it original..
no harm done and you have to have your car the way you want it...
the question might be are you worried that the changes you propose are wrong, coz if its going to bother you, then you wont enjoy the end result yourself.
