Post subject:  Cooper S Dynamo pulley diameter

Hi guys,
Apparently, the pulley on UK Cooper S dynamo's (generators) was larger in diameter than regular Mini pulleys. Has anybody got knowledge of this difference?

Regards
Al

Yep, they were bigger here too. (I think maybe on the 997-998 Cooper also?)
That's why a Mk1 S takes a longer fan belt... 850 instead of 813.
Minis with alternators run an 825.

Was there a difference between Cooper S dynamos and other Mini dynamos? - I have a generator at home I can measure but it was off an 850

Hi Dave,
The dynamos (generators) were the same, it was the pulley that differed. I'm figuring the S pulley was 3-5/8" or 3-7/8" but hopefully someone will be able to have a measure-up.

I did look in the Mini King parts book but he doesn't list it.

Hi Kev,
Knowing Joe Lucas, the correct pulley is likely to be a common one and shouldn't be too hard to find.

You are correct Kev I did not include the S pulley  Originally there were two types of pulley, One for 850 - 997 & 998, Original Part Number was 12A34 which superseded to a cast iron pulley AYG 9029 The other pulley was for the 1275 Original part number 12A34

See what happens when you stick a tape measure into an engine bay on a dark rainy night and let off a flash. I would bet that the spider webs are from redbacks.
