Does anyone know how/where to acquire a cheap, well running 998cc engine?
I'm a tad stuck!
Planning on restoring a Mini of some description, and the engine seems a good place to start?¿!?¿
IS IT REALLY???

nup, start with a body, get it straight and perfect, work out what you want your car to be like (looks, performance, reliability etc.), and sort out an engine to suit later

A motor can be rebuilt in a week or so. A body takes a little longer, sometimes years!
If you don't want the `new' motor parked for ages, do the body first.. :cry:

Everyone's right, start with the body. The condition of the body is really what makes the car, and 90% of the value of most Mini's. So get the body right and you're set!

An engine can be built from nothing easy and quickly, as the Doc said. Get the body right and spend what you have left on the engine, whether it be a 998/1100 or a screaming hot 1275.

Yes it bloody looks nice...But you have to have fun in it :wink:

Pre 1972 cars you can put almost any Motor into it..
If it afer you have to have all the pollotion gear and some states requir you to have the motor from the same Year :twisted: Okay Anton I hear you :cry: :lol:

The ADRs get more restrictive as they were revised 1968, 72, 74, etc.
After July 74 the emissions controls become rediculous (air pumps!!!)
Pre 1968 there were NO ADRs - have you seen that green '64 with no roof, no windscreen & the doors welded shut? Fully legal with engineers cert.
But bear in mind that Clubbies have more room in the engine bay, that's why they're better :!:
