Post subject:  removing cones.

Hi all! Today I dropped the front subframe (thanks to all the tips!), and stripped all the bits and pieces that make the car bounce and stop!
Problem is, the rubber cones and trumpets dont want to come out.
One side I can wobble and stuff, but not get out.
The other side is stuck rock solid, no movement at all!
How do I seperate the trumpets from the cones, as I think that once this is done, I should be able to angle the cones out.
I hope!! :D

WD40 around the end of trumpet, then use a BFH and chisel if you want to save the trumpets, an angle grinder if you don't.
Then turn the old cones sideways, they come out `easier'.

If you dont want the trumpets afterwards a bfh and a cold chisel will do wonders

You will probazbly find the old trumpets have started to corrode anhd will need replacing any way. but WD40 and gently hitting with a BFH should soon see them out

Hi Michael. Once again, thank you for the windows!
Anyway, yeh, had a quick look at the trumpets and saw not only corrosion, but a crack aswell.
I dont think that I can hit gently with a BFH. If I use a BFH, I have to hit VFH!!

yer brake the trumput up and get a nice big screw driver betwen the cone and the subframe top, front and back, Pian in the buts. If you find the inside of the cone is corroded you can sourse other from the back end of a Clubby, They dont do much work back thier

When you bung everything back together use antisieze.

I've done this on everything on Oscar for over 30 years (coz I know I'm the bugger who'll be takin it apart next) and never had a thing that won't undo or come apart. :D
