Post subject:  Building a good road 1100

Hi Guys,

I have the following bits spare and was considering putting them together to make a good reliable street 1100.

Any other ideas or suggestions?

1100 motor
12G295 head (998 cooper)
Twin 1.25 SUs & manifold
Extractors.

I also have a 'cooper s' cam (don't know the number or condition yet, it's still in the old 998 which shat itself on) is this worth the effort to put in?

Any other ideas?

Cheers
matt

I'm not sure if 1275 Cams fit in 998/1100's? I'd get an RE13 cam ground from a 998/1100 cam 8)

What size carby is good on an 1100.

twin 1 1/4s, single 1 1/2, single 1 3/4, 40DCOE ? I guess a 45 DCOE is too big ?

do 1100s require a different cam profile as I guess they have a bit more torque (being stroked) so could handle a bit more overlap without misbehaving too much ??? I am guessing here or do you put in a 'normal' cam and they are nice and civilised ???

RE:13 ... smooth(ish) power from 2500 - 8000+ !

nice cam, a little wild in the small block, but still, very drivable....

Go the bigbore smallblocks!

Maybe bore it to 1132/1152, RE-13 Cam, I run one in my 1152, nice cam, power from 2700-8000+ If your game, I have a 295 head as well, 1100S Inlets, Extractors, Lightened flywheel, 40mm Dellorto...

I wouldn't call it smooth in the stroker..mine noticably kicks in at 2700, but it's good, I drive it to work everyday in peak hour and it's perfectly fine shifting at 3500 if you want to stroke it along...

This setup gives about ~50hp at the wheels...

Hey it's the next best thing :P

On my (1152) at 650rpm it was hell lumpy 8) still a little lumpy at 1000rpm too..sounds mean like a oldschool V8...er...ish

I think it's a bit smoother on a 998...

i'm interested in this, the 1100 is an awful motor standard but can be made filthy quick.

I'm with Josh....Good motor and we are trying to brake the 50BHP
Josh and I have very simlar 1152 Re13 cam..but he has a 40Delly 295head..He still didn't beat me 45.2 at the wheels
1000 at idle has a slight lump sound
Josh runs the 40 Delly and I use a HIF44

but ake sure you get a ACL Head gasket (blue trace)

Just Do it
