They don't bottom out when used on lowered suspension . The shock still has a similar amount of travel but the shock itself is shorter so that it's length fully compressed is less than a standard one which could bottom out with lowered suspension at full compression . You would have to check with the manufacturers or sellers (if they know their product) to find what they consider lowered and what they consider standard suspension . |

Have a look at some of Keith Calver's info on shocks (in the suspension section) here - http://www.calverst.com/cc110f.htm. It includes data on lengths for different brands of shock as well as recommendations on which shocks to fit etc. Cheers, Simon |

The body of the shock is slightly shorter which means less stroke but it wont bottom out and destroy itself. They are generally of a larger diameter so they hold enough oil not to overheat. Although i could be wrong.......... |

They are shorter,but if the bump stop falls to bits then you will still bottom out the shock. If you use coil overs and mount them to the top of the hub they will still bottom out. The problem with the ones you buy is that the assembly is only adjustable for spring stiff-ness but not for ride height with the brackets they supply. The only safe way is to have adjustable ride height |
