Hi,
Was going through some photos today and found this photo I took of a group of minis at the Save Catalina Rally ( Didn't work) -which was about 10 years ago? I think they may have been a contingent from Mini Club of NSW - Not sure.
Anyones car there?
Regards
Brian

Some of us did go up there a while back but it was more like 4 or 5 years ago? not 10.

<edit> It was only 2 years ago- my pics taken 6/05/2007.

Pretty sure it would be around ten years. I remember Kevin Bartlett was there and that it was a long time ago- so must have been a different event.

I remember that day, it was before I left the mountains. I got there early and parked my Morris 1100 away from any other cars but when I came back my 1100 was surrounded by Minis.
I was then asked to move my car as it was spoiling the display of Minis.

Yep, I was there with the MCC. It was a farewell/ save Catalina day. Some fantastic machinery there. :) :)

The MCC NSW actually ran the very last 'official' event there and appropriately we had a Mini do the final lap at the lapdash (Chris Adlam).

I have fond and and not so fond memories of that circuit. :D

I am really surprised they let you on the circuit. Were you allowed to drive right around, or only on the southern part of the track (Tunnel of Love)?

When I was there in 2006 doing the Ghost Tracks feature for Issue 8, I was told by the people at the Blue Mountains City offices that the northern half of the site, including that part of the track, is under protection as an aboriginal sacred site, and no vehicles are allowed on it.

I think motorsport enthusiasts should claim the whole track as a sacred site!

Cheers,
Watto.

Watto, we were allowed to carefully 'trundle' around the corner (tunnel of love) and form up a grid, take some Photo's then quietly turn left off the grid back into the middle. That's my green MkII in second pole! :P

Mini Car club Pikelet run! (Chris Czerial in an apron (Snigger! )

There are trees growing right throught the track in places, and other areas that have washed away.

It's slowly going back to nature

I remember going there when they had Rallycross on, it was great. Unfortunately the western side of the track has collapsed. It is now in the hands of the traditional owners and is called "The Gully"
