Quote: engineered as he has had a the firewall modified by previous owner and therefore is missing his compliance plate.
I didn't think compliance plates came in til 1969.. this is a 63... looks nice, would be interesting to get some more detail on the "firewall modifications" though.... and lose the bonnet... ![]() |

I thought about looking further into this mini, and it wouldve involved a flight down. Would be a good car and if its got no rust i think its a bargain. With a supercharger and all. Good luck with it. |

However it would have had a BMC Australia build plate which is not the same as a compliance plate. The build plate would have had the car number, colour and engine number on it. People do confuse them. The engine number will be on the block, and the car number on the radiator shroud, unless that has also been "modified" by the PO. The firewall is probably also missing the body number, which is not the one that you need for registration anyway. I think all you would need to do is convince the registration authority of the identity of the car if it is still there on the radiator shroud. Seeing as it is now supercharged, I would suggest this is the real reason that it needs an engineers certificate. I would also be looking at putting discs on if it does not already have them, i know it says new, but that may mean new single leading shoe drums for all i can see there. |

As an Adelaide-ian, I haven't seen this Mini before. But it certainly looks the biz ![]() |

I've not seen it before either, but looks to be a good'n. Would be suspect of the firewall though. |

Even assuming you can sort the identity issues, I would steer clear of this one! It seems a bit of a lash up! Difficult to tell from the pics, but is there a car build plate on the firewall? looks like it may be painted over? Or simply not there. The rad shroud has gone, so no ID there either. The body number may be on the firewall, but there are holes for wiring there too! If it had discs, it may be worth 3K, but without, I would only buy it if I had another 2k to spend on it ! Would need to have no rust, excellent workmanship on deseaming and no other major issues, engine / clutch / gearbox wheel brgs etc. to be worth 3K, then you would still need to spend another couple to get it right..... ![]() |

Didn't the owner say it had issues she couldn't afford to fix - at a guess its engineering and compliance issues. Compliance in that its unroadworthy. I would back away from that one regardless of its "mean" look. It suddenly becomes a $10k car. Mike |
