I looking at buying a "cooper s"????? eng. It has the extra head studs, but what other engs[ie capacity] had extra studs. This block has the fuel p/p hole blanked off as part of the casting and tappet covers. the head is a 12G940 and has double v/v springs and cast/forged ?? rocker arms. The block has NO serial numbers stamped on it. The box has uni drives and the No's on it are 22G1128 and 214270. It has a "reverse light switch"???? in the front casing. Remote shift type |

That's a Cooper S block. Pretty certain. It's not rare to have a normal 1275 block drilled and tapped to take the extra studs... infact my 1275 LS engine has had this done. This block in question with tappet covers and no fuel pump hole, it's gotta be a Cooper S block. |

Yep, 1275 with tappet covers and no fuel hole sounds pretty well on the money... |

I am not too sure about the capacity but will pull the head off and measure the stroke/bore. The engine has been rebuilt but never run according to the bloke selling it. He was going to put it into a morris 1100. He said the the gearbox was a cooper s, but I want to find out from the No's I took off it that it is cooper s. |

22G1128 is right for a MK2 gearbox, but could also be a mini K. If it has stampings starting with 9f on the flat part at the drivers side of the front, opposite where the 22G1128 is, then it's likely to be from an S. The fact that it's got hardie spicers means it's even more likely to be an S - no real way of knowing till you look at the stampings on the laygear |
