Post subject: | Timing chain installation |
In the middle of doing this for the first time on the 850. Single row. Got it all apart no worries, put new tensioners on, and am having trouble getting the camshaft sprocket on. The crankshaft sprocket goes on alright and im trying to slide it on evenly, but with the new chain, which i guess is shorter than the old shagger, the camshaft sprocket just wont go on. So whats the trick? Holding tongue right? Persistance? Any help appreciated. Chur Anthony. |

Slide both sprockets on together. You need to make sure the camshaft key is aligned with the sprocket. It is hard to see. Have the flywheel bolted on the crank loose temporarily, then you can move the crank and sprockets slightly to align it. ![]() |
