Post subject: | Question about buying interstate |
Hi Everyone, Just wondering if you kind folk could help me out with some information. I am looking at buying a vehicle in Victoria and I live in NSW. I would be more than likely driving there to pick it up,and would obviously have it inspected first. The vehicle has rego till March 10 in Victoria and is a 1998 Rover Cooper . What would be the process and basic idea of cost for registering this in NSW , and would any of the March 10 expiring rego carry over. I know I would need vehicle inspection, and stamp duty ,but what would some of the other costs be and would it make any difference registering a Rover Cooper in NSW(due to low volume laws etc). If anyone has done this,or can help me out I would really appreciate it. Thanks. |

Done this in reverse, twice... You would need to check with the RTA in NSW what they will handle. Rego in VIc is relatively cheap compared to NSW as we don't have 3rd party attached to the rego. I ended up getting a RWC in Vic, and cashing in the balance of the NSW rego, either way you will need a RWC to transfer the vehicle to your name, not sure if a VIC RWC is compliant to NSW requirements. |
