Check with www.mgspareparts.com.au/ they are ACL agents.
I was told recently by GR that many ACL pistons for Minis are now going NLA, so good luck.

Why ACL? Hypatecs are still available cheap from www.minisport.com.au and are a good strong piston for most purposes.

Hi Kev

My friend is an professional engine builder and is reparing a specific engine and the piston in the engine needs to be a ACL one to match the other three i guess. He did tell me why specfically but i cannot recall

Yes you are correct ACL have stopped making them.

Any one got a good second hand one

Thanks

Bernard

how odd - if you remember the reason, can you let us know.... it must be a good one not to spend 200 odd dollars for a set of new pistons

I think it is their lucky day Mark! nice find

I used to fit single pistons to my Holden race car. When the engine got a freshen up I would sometimes find a few marks on the top of a piston. So why change 6 when you only needed one.
But this was a race engine. It didn't do lots of hours. It just got new rings, big-ends and timing gears. The mains rarely needed changing.

ACL used to sell single pistons but you needed to know which ACL piston you were using and the size. There is a bit more to it than just saying ACL .040
