are you asking the gauge of the wire from the Alt to the starter or inside the alternator (armiture) ? |

Should have been clearer - the thread that takes the nut that holds the pulley and fan on the rotating shaft. I have an alternator here that some bright body in its history forced a nut of wrong thread on and damaged the thread and now that I have a new correct nut it won't go on. |

There were many different threads on those shafts. So... If you have a correct nut take it to a bolt place... match a bolt to it and "voilas" there is your thread size. You could also use a thread file to clean the thread on the shaft. Thread files are magic tools. Or if you know the thread size you can re cut it on a Lathe. But is it worth the trouble ? For a little 17ACR. |
