OK... so after having a slight issue with reversing in my auto Rover she was taken in for a check up and it was found that the oil was low and needed top up. I received this advice from this thread : http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=53637 Since then, she died again. It was found to be the crank angle sensor needed replacing. Then she died again. It was then found the fuel filter was filled with crud, as too was the fuel tank and the fuel pump wasnt the correct one for the EFI engine that was in it. Last night i took her for the first drive since I got her back. She drove like a champ. No issue at all. Smooth as silk. Up hills, down hills, stop, start, turn, up gear, down gear, everything was perfect. Probably drove about 30kms without hitch. I dont thrash the car and dont manually change gears. Stopped for petrol. Stopped to drop my sister in law off. No problems still. Then stopped to drop my brothers girlfriend off, and when I turned the car back on again, I had no gears. Nothing. Even when i put it in park, it didnt "catch" like it would normally in an auto. She wont go forward OR backwards, feels like she is in neutral all the time and is now stuck on a patch of grass.... Can anyone tell me what this is this time????? ![]() ![]() ![]() |

is your transmission fluid at correct level when engine is running. If so it's probably the torque converter felix |

Is the starter turning the engine over or is it 'dead' I'm thinking interlock cutout wire fault if 'dead' |

torque converter just replaced... fluids all topped up and checked a week ago... engine starts and runs wihtout fail, there is just no drive... RE the linkage cable, is this something that can be done on the spot, or is it a tow her back to Greigs moment??? ![]() |

I`m not "that" familliar with the late "park type" autospastics,,, but "IF" they`re the same set up as the early ones then you should be able to spot the gear change cable on the drivers side under the engine where it connects to the gearbox,,, if it`s still attached there , then check inside the gearchange housing-- under the gear-stick,,, if it all looks good both ends & if you can get some one to opperate the gears while you`re looking at the gearbox end & the cable is moving,,, well then it`s probabaly a tow jobby |

Sure sounds like a cable issue to me. On the passenger side front edge of the gearbox will be a black cover secured by two 1/2" bolts. Remove that cover and you can see the end of the cable. You should be able to see if the end is moving with the shifter. Maybe the grub screw has just slipped? It's possible to use the older design cable with the Park shifter. It's harder to adjust, but also less likely to slip out of adjusment! Cheers, |

Dont knock the auto... i love it..!! well the cable was checked and it was all ok, so its back at Mini Classic for a box swap. It would appear that something has slipped or broken off inside the box and wont give drive of any sort... so... over this week the box will come off and get checked over. If there is anyone that knows auto boxes its Greig. Will wait and see... |

Just on a side note,,,, has anyone actually checked to see if an axle is turning,,, maybe just a drive flange spline is stripped at the wheel end??? |

when you say axle is turning... as in if you push the car forwards/backwards... yes... that seems to turn fine. The issue is like having a rolling shell with no engine. everything seems to roll, stop, turn, etc etc, but there is just no drive.... On a happier note though, i got my Moke started and she is driving fine so the Rover can sit there... hahaha |
