How do people paint their Brake Calipers? They should be Gold colour. Do you just use the gold colour VHT paint?

Cheers Brett

in most road car cases any pressure pack will be fine but if you want them to look even nicer get them painted in 2pac and clear coated, or get the plated in whatever the gold is

IMO (depends on what wheels you have) you really can't see them anyway unless you poke your head under the (11cm off the ground) car and look...

Paint them anything. There are specific Brake Calliper spray paints at Supercrap auto

True that.. I've got 2nd-hand drums on the rear which someone painted bright yellow  .. and you can hardly tell they're there through the Contessa's.

they will be fine on road going mini brakes, for a comparison we did some warrenty work at walkinshaw racing, calipers were peeling the laquer away on hsv gts brakes, we cleared them with 2k clear and they have no issues at all with them. same with the porsche gt3 brake callipers

Cooper S callipers were never painted, they were zinc plated "yellow"

Original Lockheed Cooper S calipers were not plated, OR even painted. They were `au naturel' grey cast iron. Until they got rusty and crappy looking.

S drive flanges were never plated either.

Oh k Thanks for setting me straight Doc, thats sorta what i was tending to think originally, just like the drumbrake hubs, just metal. (but new metal so probably silvery/grey)

But i think i may plate them or paint them, looks much nicer :)

The cheaper paints go to crap pretty quickly, they lose their gloss and turn a cloudy sort of black. Epoxy paints like Kill Rust seem to keep a longer lasting luster.
Although I painted mine, zinc plating the calipers doesn't seem to be such a bad idea actually....save all the hassles of trying to keep the paint looking good, or the drive flanges from going rusty...

No sorry doc, they were plated I have taken genuine S callipers out of NOS Lockheed boxes and they were plated. Not AP callipers, genuine lockheed, with a BMC part no.
As for the drive flanges, you are correct, they were never plated, i just had them done along with a heap of other mini parts to make them look good.

I've never bought new S calipers as a part. but I have never seen plated ones on a car from new.
I have 2 sets of Mk2S/GT Lockheed ones, neither are plated.
