Hey i just bought this mini off ebay and it doesnt have one of them little plates
the ad said it was a 65 mini k, which it can't be cos K's werent made till a few years later
but the problem is i would have thought it was a deluxe cos it has hydro suspension, but then today i noticed it has a floor starter button, which i thought deluxs had key starters?
any help appreciated
thanks

Looks like a Deluxe, the button on the floor is not the starter it is the light dipper switch.
Cheers Pete

Going by the wiper drives that could be right.
Cheers Pete

yeah its a headlight dipper switch (instead of moving blinker up and down like later ones, and cars today).

Looks like a delux to me, wait until some others see this as they will be able to comment on the colour as well - ie what years was available.

what is the number on the radiator shround, that too can help identify the year.

Brenton

To me it looks like a 69 Mini K.
It has the late wiper pattern so it is made after mid 68.
It has the captive nuts on the firewall for the K dash so it is after mid 69.
It has a paint sticker so it was made after mid 69.

There will be some numbers on the rad shroud panel. If you post them I can de-code it for you.

According to the paint codes on ozcooper it makes it a 68 but the stamped numbers will be the giveaway.

Yeah, the Dulux book says it is a 68 colour but the solid evidence on the car says it is a 69.

If it was a 68 colour it would be stamped onto the ID plate and not stuck on with a sticker. :lol:

With no holes for the id plate plate in either of the two spots (if my eyes are calibrated) means it is a mid to late 69 (June to October maybe ??).

That number is a 69 Mini K. (but I already told you that! 8))
YG2S1 1661
Y = Australian Manufacture
G = Engine capacity 1000 to 1399cc
2S = 2 Door Saloon
1 = 1st variant = Mini K
1661 = Car number = 1161st Mini K made.

Because it is a low number it is fairly close to the start of production. So mid 69 is a good guess.

The engine number for that car would have been something like
10YC/Ta/H/2100 give or take 200 or so.
