just wondering if anyone out there has a definitive on the wheel rim color of a mini 850 , im pretty sure they were white,but the car in question has silver rims (but look like they may have been painted at some time).cheers josh |

English cars had white. My 64 came with sliver wheels and I don't ever remember seeing any other colour... Cheers, Ian |

As far as I know the Australian assembled cars had silver wheels. |

All early British cars had Old English White wheels, later were silver. I would say the change point was probably with the Mk2. Regards Al |

Australian cars had: Silver Birch Metallic 06968 Duco (acrylic) expcept the 1275 GT which had metallic ___ ? ___ metallic (see latest TME, I cant remeber the middle word) |

I had a `61 850 back in the 60s, I'm pretty sure the wheels on it were Old English White. But yes later Oz ones are Silver Birch. |

So I'm getting that the changeover was when Oz production took over? late 64 early 65?? I love the white, looks great with new hubcaps and against the colour of the car.. |

The changeover to silver wheels was before the start of Morris 1100 production in early 64. It was a BMC Australia thing. They decided that it was too hard painting different wheels in different colours so they settled on the one colour for all wheels. It may have been in 62 when the Austin Freeway started production or it may have been some other event. |

the car in question is a 63 850,will just leave the silver rims on it then as my brother has decided he wants to sell it at minishow50 as it hasnt been driven since he got it 3 years ago from its original nana driver. thanks for the info cheers josh |

My 62 has white wheels. I have an Aussie 850 brochure that shows both white wheels and silver wheels!

I have photos of both white and silver wheels, but on some of the 1961 cars they are body colour. Both my own 61 850 sedan & a mates car have body colour wheels, Green & red. |
