Hi all. I have just got around to fitting a Bosch pre-engaged starter motor with the integral solenoid that I got from Tony (convertiblemini) about a year ago. I have kept the original round solenoid in place and bolted the new power cable to the same terminal as from the battery. The wire from the key now joins the small wire from the new solenoid. The thing I liked about the old setup was the ability to spin the motor over from the engine bay by pushing the button on top of the solenoid. Could I still do this if I joined the key wire and the new solenoid wire on the now unused second terminal on the old solenoid? As I see it, the engine will start as normal with the key, but if you want to spin the engine over to set the valve clearances with the key off, pressing the button on the old solenoid will activate the new solenoid and engage the starter. Or will my wiring loom just go up in smoke. Please correct me if I am wrong. It is late after all! Thanks.
