gday all.
Ive got a nice set of brownwig extractors from the HP guy next to link automotive...
now im woundering if there are any tips on installing them..
my engine is in but they hit on the inner cv of the trany....
my guse id that i have to undo the left engine mount and swing the engine towards the front of the car to make room...????
any idears...

was also continplating taking them to a exhaust place and getting them cut and made to fit like all the others out there???
or would this just stuff them up...

If the exhaust is hitting on the inner pot joint then tilting engine forward won't to jack.
I'd mod the exhaust or make a steel spacer plate (run two gaskets) to get it to fit.

you can see in the photo how close they are to the inner pot...im thinking they must slide them in somehow one piece at a time..but im stuffed if i know how...they did say last time i had them fitted they are a pain to fit...

I have a couple of these type of sets of extractors. I used them on My Speedway Race Mini. Mine were made by or I bought them from for KG Engineering. I have never had any problems with them fitting even though they were always close. Loking at the picture you posted it looks like yours have been in a car that was HIT at some stage that could be why they are hitting the pot joint they must be bent. You can see where they have hit either the Firewall or the subframe. Fitting two gaskets will not straigten them.

yes they were hit in my acident..but when there bolted to the engine they all line up ok and ive had link and hp flow test them and they came back ok...they both said no need to try to get the dint out..
ill pop into link and see what they say...

Use two exhaust manifold gaskets. This will move the extractors back slightly. I did this when fitting the Maniflow LCB2 with rubber universals to the Van.

I've got Brtownriggs on the Cooper S but haven't had any clearance problems but this has the HS steel unis. What I do find is that they hang down lower than other extractors and this can present ground clearance problems on a lowered car.

PS try buying a new collector from LINK - good luck. I ended up making my own.

I know were you are comming from when you say try to get a new collector pipe..
i ordered one two months ago and still nothing....ive got one on my old exhaust but its my spare and quite setup...i want to run a full stainless system on my new project..hence why i wanted a new collector pipe....
i suppose i could just use my old one and get an exhaust join put on so i can still run both exhaust if i want??
just need to cut it off..
if no luck in another month ill get the angle grinder out.

I use cap screws instead of studs in the cylinder head, gives that bit of extra room when sliding them in. Also leave the steady bar off to allow the engine to rock forward. Still a pain tho.

If the dent in the pipes doesn't effect flow now, then an additional dent to clear the pot joint shouldn't effect them either :shock:

all fitted and is ok....i found out i was putting them in wrong....just needed to get them in the right angle...
so im happy now...
as for the collector pipe....ill just wait and hope....
