So i have a 1976 998 and am going to be putting a turbo on it. Just wondering if anyone has an idea on what sort of poundage the stock internals car handle.

I was hoping to run around 16+ pound but am sort of worried..

The engine is under rebuild at the moment so now would be the time to change it all..

Cheers.

If it is already in pieces you don't need to wind the boost up.

Not going to get any boost until the engine runs. Speak to GR, he's the guru.

how do you mean stock?

head gasket will withstand 12psi with arp studs and good gasket but i think you will have issues with 16psi

basically depends on tune and pistons but crank and rods will easy hold 16psi

hope that helps

it does. I will contact the guy that has been suggested above.

Just want to find out what sort of pressure the internals can withstand so i can have an idea on my limits. Cheers.

I wouldn`t go past 10psi if i were you & i`d be dropping the compression ratio to about 8:1 or 8.5:1 max if you`re contemplating running on pump fuel

However,,, if you`d like to creep it up to the edge, then maybe 15psi but it will probably be pushing the limits on pump fuel

did i mention anything about pump fuel?

Oh & if you`re using pump fuel then i`d make sure the max ign timing is kept at or under 20deg

are you using it with pump fuel???

:-)

I dunno about the other states but in NSW if caught using avgas on the street, they hang you by your gonads and relieve you of $5K.
