Post subject:  cutting arch for wider wheels

if i were to get wider wheels (13x7) what sort of cutting would need to be done to the front wheel arches? where and by how much?

is there anywhere someone can point me to investigate a "how-to" for minis to get a better idea as to what would have to be done?

cheers

There are some pics of how I did mine here:

MRBN is quite low, and I could run 50 profile Yokos on the 13x7s fine on the street.
Once I hit the track, the braking and cornering forces made the front wheel arches rub on the tyres.
Due to the large offset, the tyres did not hit the inner guard, but you do need decent size flares.

Oh, and if you're thinking of buying Darren's rims, they look just as good up close as they do in the photos.

I have templates to mark out to cut the guards. What type of guard extension are you using. I make my own steel ones.
If you want to see how I do it I have a shell that I am doing now.

is that template in "emailable" form? I am geting wheels for my Rover and although its a little time before I tackle it, something like this would be an awesome help.

You can get them from the minispares.com you need to be a member and its in fitting instructions. I used them. They are ...ok. Not perfect by any means. Maybe as they are roundie.. late roundie I think and I am a clubman pilot.
