Hi,
I have a mid 70's Leyland with the tag / sticker under bonnet that refers to the Yellow Devil Dulon color, but am unable to find a suitable match up here in the U.S.
Can anyone please help with the correct modern paint company's code for this?
Or, if that is unavailable, does anyone have this color car and know of a correct match from another modern car maker?

There are only a few yellows that are "somewhat close" when looking at what's available, so I'm trying to narrow down the search.

Yellow Devil was made by Dulux Paints but Dulux sold their automotive section to PPG in 1997.
The Dulux code number was 17422.

Maybe if you contact PPG Australia they might be able to point you in the right direction.

Excellent tips and emails sent to / for me! Thanks to you all. Prior to my going out to have some mixed up from the codes, does anyone have any matching color substitutes for touch up work ( the little mini bottle with brush that is likened to a nail polish type )?

My honest opinion would be to take a part from the car to someone that does paint colour matching and get them to mix it to match your car.

I found one of these touch up thingys that is a pretty close match. Its Holts Duplicolor Colour Touch. Colour is Yellow Devil (which is why I gave it a go) and the code on the sticker is: HCTH40-C

Its close enough for chips in spots that aren't obvious. It will show up if you put it on the bonnet for example, but it looks better than a stone chip!

As a starting point, according to the Dulux paint book I have, Yellow Devil (code 526-17422) has the following mix:

Tinter / Setting
19751 / 273
00740 / 296
05439 / 500

As I said, it is a starting point.

Keep in mind that even two cars coming off the production line, one after the other, could sometimes be subject to a variance in colour. There are a lot of reasons for this - too many to go into here, but I gave a fair rundown in Issue 7 of The Mini Experience.

In a nutshell, as long as the colour matches what is originally on the car, assuming you have somewhere to colour match, and you are happy with the result, then it is the correct colour.

Anyone who says any given colour has to be exactly 100% correct is talking through their butt.
