Not sure if this has been posted before. Link is for part 1 of 4. It is called wheeler dealers and they buy a cheap old car, do it up and sell it. You will see the links to the other parts on you tube. I'm not saying it is a good way to do a resto but it shows you what people do and get away with.

Probably help some people with what to look out for when buying too, it shows how easily things can be covered up. I like how he told the buyer it was a bare metal respray.

But it was a bare metal respray......over two square inches in the bottom somewhere.

Yeah, Wheeler Dealers ran on Discovery Channel here (Saturday lunchtimes). The 'geezer' who buys & sells the car is a twat, but the mechanic Edd China (apparently his real name) is great. He built the "James Bond" Rover (from memory) on Top Gear.

The show is fatally flawed though as they never factor in the time of Edd, who does all the work. The bits with Edd are really interesting, Mike the Geezer is just too much of a sarf london twat...

lol i love this show, i think the whole idea of it is tidying cars up for cheap so you can sell them on for a profit, that why everything is done the wrong way! having said that you can get away with doing it that way and it lasting for a long while..

Ed's labour is obviously not costed out at zero, so I think the 200 quid profit is a bit of a wank.
I must admit though I often watched that show on Discovery.

No sorry, I missed that in wombats thread so the first I new about the show was when I stumbled on it on you tube looking at other mini stuff. I figured people on here would have seen it but posted for those that may not have. Cheers.

Although it's interesting and they cover a few of the typical mini problems, the Mark Evans 'A such-and-such is born' is much better. He rebuilt an E-type, build a Westfield car (and learnt to race), trikes, motorbike, helicopter and plane.

The best one though is An MG is born, where he restores an MG roadster. A lot of the things he does are pretty comparable to minis, and he visits British Motor Heritage to see how they build the new shells, pretty much as the new Mini shells are made.

I also have the series "Wreck Rescue", a six part series where he helps people 'stuck' in a vehicle restoration. Part 1 is the best where he helps a young woman rebuild her frog eye sprite. It's also the only one on YouTube, I believe (link here).

All his videos are available to buy on line at his website. Interestingly enough, he's also a veterinary surgeon and CEO or chairman of the RSCPA in the UK.

It's funny they say that every panel is shagged but you only see them fix the LHS A panel and the door. What was under that primer on top of the scuttle I wonder....

I reckon 6 months in the UK weather and there'd be bog falling off it everywhere :-(
