Just got my race mini back from the panel beater.....

and he had an interesting tale to tell me......

On opening up the sill he found a new (but naturally tarnished) 1966 1c piece.
( His wife has kept it as a souvenir )

He reckons this must have been placed in there during the build process....

I wonder how many fruitless hours where spent over the years trying to find and fix an intermittent rattle :P
.. and how many other cars were similarly sabotaged !

That's a good way to figure out the age of your car :)

Did you give permission? By rights it's your property and belongs to you

At work we have had Chisels and hammers and all sorts of things find there way into the inside of sills and body sides etc etc...

More often than not if they find a rattle on the test course they have to locate the rattle and cut it out.. if they cant find it the car will go into the lease program and not be sold as a new car.

When the blokes were welding the early rear arms together [the pressed two halve type] they would just drop a nut or bolt in first. customers complained of a rattle in the back of the car. :D

You're right! He should sue!
