hey blokes just curiouse how do you know if your dizzy is 180 degrees out? cause i know this can be a common mistake and am just wandering how to know for future etc... thanks a lot

1. Take out no 1 plug (or all to make this easier)
2. Put it in 4th
3. With ignition off stick a finger in no 1 plug hole and get someone to help roll the car slowly forward.
4. When air hisses out past your finger look in with a torch until the piston is at the top and stop there.
5. Observe the dizzy rotor, it should be pointing at no 1 lead.

The drive dog for the dizzy can only go in one way. Only with the leads being in the wrong spots and or the dizzy being in the wrong position will you get the timing wrong.

yes, but the distributor drive that goes in the block (that the dog sits in) can be in any which way, it's often put in 180* out
