Post subject: | Electric Windows |
Hi Forumites, Installing new door cards in The Cat, and I just had a thought about installing electric windows befoe I drilled the hole for the winder handle. Has anyone installed electric windows in their mini, and how hard was it? Would appreciate any feedback regarding this. Cheers, Tricky |

I have thought about it quite a lot. The guys at turbominis do it and actually get a nett weight reduction, but that's on UK style doors. |

To do it in a clubby with the latter doors it is very easy to do with parts from wreckers not sure about early doors tho. I put them in my Mini when I first got it only took half a day to do. My only problem is I don’t have limit switches so if you hold the button to long bad things happen ![]() I’ll put pics up tonight after work. Thanks Nathan. |

Hi I have done power window conversions on a few jap cars using Spal kits from AUDIOXTRA http://www.audioxtra.com.au/html/s01_home/home.asp also made some to fit XW Falcon by mounting late model power windows out of an XF cut of the XF arms and welded on XW arms I have a bunch of switches left over form previous jobs if you need some Regards Daren |

anybody put pop door latches and taken the handles off. Id be interested to see electric windows, and electric pop latches and all wired to an alarm, so you can hit your key chain and the door pops open. Ive seen this on alot of cars, door panels that are flat, no handles, but would all that fit in a mini door. |

It is illegal to have no door handles on a car so I have been told because in a emergency they can't open ya doors |

All you need is a mechanical way to open the door. A switch somewhere makes it legal. |

Which is bullcrap because in a car accident or something chances are the power gets cut anyway. |

i was about to suggest someone make a conversion for sliding windows, but then i realised that would essentially end up with a set of hydraulic shears on each door. ![]() so i'll leave you with this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOFoE3EzE-8 ![]() |
