I've just seen the following photo from Mini50Show and would like to make contact with the owner of KZA 997 to confirm if it is a Kelp Beige car.

That's Yvonne Tyler's car( of Tovon Automotive Seaford), and it is a cracker! I had a chat to her about it with Simon (SGC) on the Saturday.

It is a factory colour, one of only a couple they believe.

They did say the colour, Simon might have a better memory...

I remember that colour - I saw a few police coopers of that colour go through the government auctions back then. Wasn't a special colour just not a popular one.

Although it was the sort of colour the police liked - blandish and unremarkable - perfect for just sitting on the side of the road.

That's why I want to see a bit more of it. My car (the ex-NSW Police Jet Red/White MK II S at Mini50Show, as seen briefly in the Nine News segment) was originally Kelp Beige and I plan to restore it back to that colour. I didn't realise the Tovon car was at the Show, otherwise I would've taken a few snaps. It actually looks a better colour than I imagined. The small areas on my car where the original colour is visible make it look a yucky green/khaki.

Are the Tovon's represented on Ausmini?

It's also good to see another 1970 car in this colour because Kelp Beige doesn't appear on colour cards after 1967 which made me wonder about my car's real age. Either they found a few gallons in the paint shop and decided to use it up on later models or the NSW Police specifically asked for it because it made their unmarked cars bland and unobtrusive. Rodger Howard also has an ex-Police MK II S of the same colour that's only a few body numbers away from mine.

The car is owned by Yvonne Tyler, I belive she has owned it since the mid 70's

I don't think Toby or Yvonne are on Ausmini, but you could probably give Toby a call about it at Mini spares and repairs, or alternatively I'm happy to ask them anything you'd like to know next time i'm down there.

Heres a pic of it at minishow 2008. It shows it a different colour in different light. A pic of it at their wedding on the windscreen too.

Toby, Michael and Yvonne are too busy fixing minis to be on here! Great people.
