English cars had white. My 64 came with sliver wheels and I don't ever remember seeing any other colour...

Cheers, Ian

As far as I know the Australian assembled cars had silver wheels.

All early British cars had Old English White wheels, later were silver. I would say the change point was probably with the Mk2.

I had a `61 850 back in the 60s, I'm pretty sure the wheels on it were Old English White.
But yes later Oz ones are Silver Birch.

So I'm getting that the changeover was when Oz production took over? late 64 early 65??

I love the white, looks great with new hubcaps and against the colour of the car..

The changeover to silver wheels was before the start of Morris 1100 production in early 64.
It was a BMC Australia thing. They decided that it was too hard painting different wheels in different colours so they settled on the one colour for all wheels.
It may have been in 62 when the Austin Freeway started production or it may have been some other event.

I have photos of both white and silver wheels, but on some of the 1961 cars they are body colour. Both my own 61 850 sedan & a mates car have body colour wheels, Green & red.
