Wondering about spare wheel sizes on different models?

Was 12 inch the biggest on stock steelies? Any 13's?

My spare is 10 inch and my wheels are 13 so I think i need a bigger one.

Just use the 10" as a space saver.
When you get a puncture you fit it to the rear wheel.

So long as the diameter is the same and it fits correctly, with out rubbing or fouling on brakes or shocks etc. It should be fine IMO.
Their is most probably many mini's with the same 10" tyre on all fours and they work fine. But if the diameter is different it is probably a good idea to have it on the rear like Morris 1100 said.
Also make sure you have the correct nuts for your spare and spanners to fit them.

I thought it wouldn't be great to drive on three 13's and a 10 for extended periods. Am i being a bit precious?

You're right Floss, wouldn't be great but you could manage it.
I run 13s, sometimes 12s (they are the same rolling diameter) but never carry a spare.

Mokes came standard with 13" steelies. Just make sure the tyre profile isn't too tall.

why don't you carry a spare? Do you carry that goo in a can stuff? I am scared of that stuff. I heard of someone using it and ending up with it all setting at the bottom of the tyre in a big clump. This probably would have been fine but whilst driving the bottom of the tyre doesn't stay as the bottom but becomes the sides and sometimes for a brief moment the top... wobble wobble wobble.

You don't do it for extended periods. You do it to get you home or to a tyre service.
You drive very carefully as mixing tyre sizes is not a good practice and should not be treated as normal driving.

I don't carry a spare because I don't like carrying around unnecessary weight.
Besides, there's not much point if you don't carry a jack & wheel brace.

I have never had puncture in a mini. One of my 13s has a slow leak, just pump it up every time I fill up.

With the 12375LS it was a tight squeeze to fit the stock skinny 145/70-12 between the big fuel tank and the battery.
If you were to run a big tank and any larger tyre you would have trouble fitting it in place.

Not an issue, Floss has a pretty big boot!

My rover has the stocky 12inch steelie and the 34 litre tank. The steelie kinda slides in underneath. it certainly won't move much, but very tight squeeze to get it in and out.

I have to carry a 10inch because I use the spare wheel storage mount behind the passenger seat in the van.
Fairly restricted with what fits there.

Me too. Standard 10" spare behind passenger seat.

If you made up a custom mount you cound carry any size though!
