Post subject: | Having trouble getting engine & subframe out |
Ok, got an 1100 with an auto engine sitting on a manual subframe and tring to lift the mini off over the front then roll the subframe & engine out. One problem - the bolty pin thing the steering column bolts onto to steer the car (sticks out through the floor bout an inch) is getting caught on the floor, in the hole it pokes through. Tried everything i can think to get it out, is there a trick to it? Also, whats the best way to stop the lot tipping over? I've got some wood under the gearbox at the moment, hope that'll work. Any ideas? Thanks, Matt. |

Probably a silly question, but have you undone the steering rack U bolts to drop the rack away from the floor? Usually I leave the rack bolted to the car, and split the tierod ends (but this does make the front subframe harder to move around), But I have done it the way you are, and can't remember any problems... I use a few scissor jacks under the subframe,on the front and back edges, but blocks of wood should do the trick. Andrew |
