Hey people
Thinking... just thinking bout putting disc brakes in my 76 clubby
i have 12" wheels on it so if i buy the conversion kit for it how much works involved?
i've quoted them for 1500 (on special) at minisport in adelaide.

Cheers Hoba

Not much really,,, if buying from Minisport then they will come in bits (un-assembled) so you`ll have to "build them"

then fitting is basically taking from ball joints, tie rod ends & brake hoses, swap axles to the new CVs

remove as assemblys & fit the new "Assemblys" ... & then a wheel alignment

sounds easy enough hey? :-)

ok,,, so there "Is" a fair bit to do,,,, but it`s easy for me :-)

It is relatively easy to assemble and bolt them on.
IMO a wheel alignment is not 100% necessary but it can never hurt.

So what do you charge to do it, if all the parts are supplied?

Kenno,,, with any a drum - to - disc conversion a wheel alignment """IS""" necessary,,, if you un-bolt drum assys & then bolt disc assys on, then the toe/tracking will """WILL""" be way out

anyone who fits discs onto a car that had drums """WILL""" need a wheel alignment to at least set the "toe"

-----------------------------------------------------

Chow, i normally charge around $200 to assemble both wheel assemblys, set up all 4x ball joints, fit & grease wheel bearings , pack & fit CV joints & boots, fit disc , pads & drive flanges together etc etc etc,,,

& then $200 to fit both assys (inc bleeding brakes) & wheel aligne it.

But!!! i always suggest fitting Hi-los, adjustable control arms & new bushes as well,,, that creats a VERY good "Package"

only cause i`m a Package sort of guy :-)

funny enough they end up turning & stopping really really well after that :-)
