Post subject: | Engine mounting |
Hi all, I have a bit of silly question(for some). Would 1275 Auto with carby set up from 1990 Rover fit in to a 1989 model Rover . Mine is Mark V 1990 I believe is Mark VI. I herd that on Mark VI they moved the engine mounts to forward. So what the experts has got to say about that? Thanks on advance |

as far as i know not (100) sure you need the "AUTO" subframe as a auto engine uses a special subframe. so make sure you can get that also. |

The engine mounts only went about half to one inch forward at around about 1993. This was to get the throttle body on the injection cars to have better clearance on the firewall. The engines and the mounts themselves are all the same (though manual and auto boxes have different mounts). As NG mentioned, if the 89 rover originally had a manual subframe and still does you'll need to obtain an 'auto' one. These are a couple of inches wider in the bottom for the bigger gearbox. |
