Well i've decided to put a dash in my Clubman, but am unsure of whats the best material and thickness to use so thought i would seek advice from the masses!! I know of MDF but unsure what thickness, but i also remember somewhere reading about a kind of plastic corrogate kinda board but not sure of name and again thickness... All thought and input would be great! Ta

Id say marine ply, 10mm thick should be fine? |

are you talking inernatal dash or on the outside. I us MDF 6mmx2 glued together, Wet it and bolted it for a week to strech it to mold it. What you were thnking of with the plastic corrogate kinda board is good for he wet area's and no where you want to put dials as its not firm enought....I would think |

internal mini dash... just remember something about that plastic stuff.... Is a dash straight so to speak? i know its height varies but does it bow!? thanks |

i think that Club77 (don't think he's on here anymore as he sold his mini) had the CAD file (or something) to get one laser cut from acrylic - he had it layered so there was red on black (or vice versa) which you could see in the dial holes. here it is: http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... rylic+dash dunno if that's what you were thinking of but it's certainly another option apart from wood, mdf etc I made mine with a bit of mdf covered with a thin layer of foam and some vinyl from Spotlight it doesn't bow out, BTW, it's just the tapered shape for the top. |
