Is the distributer set correctly and have you got the plug leads the right way around ? Remember the rotor button goes anti-clockwise and the plugs fire 1-3-4-2 , if you set it thinking it goes clockwise it will fart and cough but probably not fire .

Make sure a Telegraph Pole hasn't fallen onto your engine bay.

Does it seem any more or less likely to fire with aerostart?

Like the other guys suggest, i'd be looking at the ignition side

You can get it to start with the leads "clockwise".
My son proved it

you sound like your having the same issue i was

http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic ... highlight=

My problem was caused by a small piece of metal fragment stuck in the carburettor which was preventing the pin from lifting. Chamber came off, bit of cleaning, back together again. Done and finished.

aerostart doesnt affect it at all. leads are correct points set right valves done right good spark. when you say prevented pin from lifting what do you mean?

Check the dissy isn't 180 degrees out if you've just refitted it.

Also check you actually have 12 voilts at start. If less you may still get a spark but not enough of one to fire the engine up.

If it hasnt been running for a long time sometimes they can be hard to start & when you get them going they take a few good revs to clear them out & make them idle & rev properly. A trick we used at NMP to start our imported "scrap yard" A+ engines when they were being a pain to start was to 24 volt the starter motor, they would fire up every time.

So it was running and you have not changed a thing and it will not run. Now you have been turning it over and over and it will not start.

Check the spark plugs. Pull a plug out and sit it against the head with the lead in place and see if the plug sparks.

OK , back to basic's , it's a new motor and has run , have you changed anything since it last ran , how did it run last time (hot ? slow revving ? Well ? ) , how long ago did it run ? Any chance of water getting into the fuel tank since then ? Maybe take a spark plug out and see if it's wet with fuel or bone dry ?
