Post subject: | head specs |
hi this is my first post on here i recently bought my first mini , 1964 morris anyway it has as far as i know a stock 998cc engine and a 12g202 head . i have been reading that it is best to have this head skimmed for this engine , im not sure if it has already been done by the previous owner or if i still need to do it . does anyone know how to measure the head to see if it still needs skimming and what the specs are for this particular head . any help appreciated , cheers |

If the head is on there and is going fine i wouldnt bother skimming it . As the benefits arising just from skimming it to raise the compresion in my opinion isnt worth the hassel. These are often skimmed when they are worked - ie the combustion chamber opened up to bring the compression back up. yes they are regarded as the best small bore head to work Im not sure how to measure/determin if and how much its been skimmed Hoped that helps |
