Post subject:  head specs

hi this is my first post on here i recently bought my first mini , 1964 morris anyway it has as far as i know a stock 998cc engine and a 12g202 head . i have been reading that it is best to have this head skimmed for this engine , im not sure if it has already been done by the previous owner or if i still need to do it . does anyone know how to measure the head to see if it still needs skimming and what the specs are for this particular head .

any help appreciated , cheers

If the head is on there and is going fine i wouldnt bother skimming it . As the benefits arising just from skimming it to raise the compresion in my opinion isnt worth the hassel.

These are often skimmed when they are worked - ie the combustion chamber opened up to bring the compression back up. yes they are regarded as the best small bore head to work

Im not sure how to measure/determin if and how much its been skimmed

Hoped that helps

Yep as Bubbacluby has said  if it ain't broke don't fix it....unless you wont more power. If you have a blown head gasket it a good idea to get the head skimmed to make sure its flat

1100 with 202 head are good solid engines. Where are you located some one on here could direct you to get your timeing & carb tune
