Are the selector forks from a 3 synchro remote interchangable with those from a 4 synchro remote ?
I know they are different part numbers so probably not but no harm in asking.

The answer is- the 3/4 fork yes, the 1/2 fork, NO. Sorry dude..

I have heard of 1/2 forks being interchanged between 3 & 4 synchro remote boxes- one is longer than the other and can be cut back to fit, can't remember now which is which though.

Its the 1/2 fork I'm interested in.I need to replace the one in a 4 synchro box and I know where I can get one from a 3 synchro box which is supposedly in reasonable condition.

If it's longer than the 4 synchro, I believe it can be cut to fit. Check though before you part with $$...
